Femme Ersatz traces the body as it moves from object to image to surface. Mannequins—constructed, idealized, and inert—become unstable as the image begins to falter.
As the sequence unfolds, identity fragments. The figure shifts from representation to material—distorted, interrupted, and absorbed into its own surface.
What remains is not a subject, but a conditioned presence shaped by systems of appearance and control.
